writing retreat spain
Every year some of my team and I travel to a beautiful white-washed village, nestled in the Andalucian Mountains, for one of our writing retreats.
I am often asked:
What do you do?
Why do writers have to go away to write a book?
How structured is it?
Can I get my book written in a weekend?
I’m really excited about our upcoming writing retreat in Spain, which is one of my highlights of the year!
We’ve had a few questions, so thought I’d respond to them in this blog. If you have any further questions, please contact me and I’ll be back to you on an individual basis.
What is the ‘writing retreat’?
The writing retreat is a great opportunity for you to join my team and I in Spain for 5 nights to work on your book. We will support you at whatever stage you’re at, whether you’ve just started, are writing, in the editing stage, or are planning your marketing.
Like many of my clients, Helen has dreamed of writing a book for many years. She knew that she wanted to help more people, and with limited time available, writing books was the perfect solution.
And after reading the first chapter of Your Book is the Hook, she hired me for support to write them!
I’d like to give you advance notice of this event, so that you can schedule it into your diary!

If, like many people, you have good intentions to write your book, but it’s always going on the back burner, then do read on.
When you write a book that is the hook to build your business, it’s not just about producing an effective marketing tool, although that’s part of it.
The journey an author goes on to write the book is where the real magic happens. You are forced to gain clarity of your knowledge.
It challenges you to be confident in what you are saying.
And when you have clarity and confidence, guess what? You’ll attract more clients.
If I had a fiver for every time someone told me that they’d started but not finished writing their book, then I’d be on the way to becoming a millionaire!
The aim of writing a book is to ultimately publish it, reach more people, and make money from writing it, and use it as a brilliant business tool.
It seems like an easy thing to do, but when you get going, there are multiple things that you need to think about… like Continue reading
I love being with my clients, and there is something special about working intensively. Like on this year’s writing retreat, spending time with 5 lovely ladies in a beautiful village nestled in the Andalucian Mountains.
You might be interested how these events came about as this is the second time I’ve run my writing retreat.
One of my clients, Rebecca Adams – who lived in Spain for 20+ years – said to me in 2013 Continue reading
“Karen Williams you are an angel. Thank you so very much for Saturday. I woke up today and have written the first 3 chapters. I have a clear structure and feel I can get up and write with ease. Thank you everyone for your inspiration.”
And that was just one of them!
‘Your Book is the Hook Live’ on Saturday was a fabulous day inspiring budding authors to get started with their book ideas, and I can’t wait to see these develop over the coming months.
But… There’s one problem with running a one day event… There’s never enough time to get things done! Continue reading
There’s something special about being in the mountains in South West Spain. When I wrote this blog post, I was sat by the pool on my writing retreat with 4 of my clients. Soaking up the sunshine (and trying to avoid the odd shower), breathing in fresh air, going for inspirational walks and meditations, and doing some writing as well. I’ve been working too! It’s a tough life mentoring my clients in this beautiful environment, masterminding over coffee, planning and exploring new ideas, and putting the world to rights over scrumptious meals.
